To mark 5 Years of Taftoon, a restaurant focused on celebrating the flavours of the Indian subcontinent, what better region to focus on than the charming Bengal?

Bengal boasts an incredibly rich heritage, reflected in its wholesome food. Over the course of history, its inhabitants have taken advantage of both its fertile land and proximity to multiple rivers and the sea, incorporating mild and spicy flavours.

To this day, Bengalis are known to be the most possessive foodies out of all Indian states.(Don’t believe it? Try having a peaceful discussion about Biryani…)

To host a Bengali food festival at Taftoon where the culinary beauty and variety of the state needed to be well represented, it was natural for us to choose an unpretentious thali format.
